KUANTAN: The owner of Genting Transport Sdn Bhd will have his statement recorded by police regarding its stage bus which plunged into a ravine in Genting Highlands on Wednesday, killing 37 people and injuring 16 others.

Pahang police chief Datuk Sharifuddin Ab Ghani said they had identified the owner of the Kuala Lumpur-registered bus operator and would get his statement including on claims that the ill-fated bus was overloaded.
He said initial investigation showed that the bus was ferrying 52 people, which was more than the 49 maximum number allowed.
However, he said police did not want to make early speculation and would find the reason that had caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
