
Setelah mengalami banjir ekstrim yang tidak surut selama berbulan-bulan, Thailand kini didatangi pula kemarau ekstrim. 39 wilayah menerima dampak kemarau ini yang dikatakan berpunca dari perubahan cuaca global.
Efek dari kemarau ini diramalkan sama luar biasa dengan keluarbiasaan banjir yang lalu. Ianya turut bakal mempengaruhi pengeluaran beras negara gajah putih ini.
Drought now affecting 39 provincesPublished: 12/04/2012 at 11:10 AMOnline news: Local NewsA total of 39 provinces have been hit by the current drought, affecting people in 22,889 villages, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department reported on Thursday.The department’s director general Wibul Sanguanpong said of the total, 14 provinces were in the North: Kampaengphet, Lampang, Lamphun, Sukhothai, Nan, Phayao, Phitsanulok, Phrae, Uttaradit, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Petchabun, Uthai Thani and Phichit.Another 14 provinces in the Northeast were also affected: Loei, Nongkhai, Nong Bua Lamphu, Sis Sa Ket, Khon Kaen, Amnatcharoen, Mahasarakham, Buri Ram, Udon Thani, Kalasin, Ubon Ratchathani, Yasothon, Chaiyaphum and Nakhon Ratchasima.Five central provinces of Petchaburi, Suphanburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi were also affected.Six provinces in the East suffering water shortages are Chanthaburi, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Trat, Prachinburi and Nakhon Nayok, he said.
